CSSA Announces New Board of Directors Additions

It is generally held to be true that the California Self Storage Association (CSSA) is one of the top state associations in America. There are numerous reasons for that, but chief among them is the quality and enthusiasm of the CSSA Board of Directors. It is a board that consists of top-notch self storage experts and the 2017 CSSA Board of Directors will feature two new members while chair Dean Keller bumps up to emeritus status.

Mike Gong and Josh Miller are the two newest additions to the CSSA Board. Gong is the National Self Storage Practice Leader and a member to the Real Estate Practice Group for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., the 3rd largest insurance brokerage & risk management firm in the United States. Miller is the Operations and Development Manager of his family's Storland Self-Storage business.

As mentioned, Keller will assume the emeritus status on the board, while Wayne Woolsey of Kiwi Construction is the outgoing emeritus. Kim Siclari (Secretary) and Chris Miller are no longer on the CSSA Board of Directors.

Keller is the President and Co-founder of Bancap Self Storage Group, Inc. He is a graduate of Cal State Long Beach and has been a California licensed real estate broker since 1981 and has specialized exclusively in self storage investments for over 30 years. Keller is one of the top self storage brokers in the country, with nearly $1.3 billion in completed self storage transactions. From 2015 to present he has been a member of the national Self Storage Association Foundations Board of Governors.

Gong has been active in the self storage industry for the last 15 years specializing in placement & structuring of commercial property and casualty insurance programs for owners and operators throughout the country. He also serves as the Chairman to the Young Leaders Group of the Self Storage Association (SSA). Gong is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego and currently based in Fresno, California.

Miller has been in the business for more than 12 years, working at every level in the self-storage business from basic facility maintenance to full site development. In 2010, he entered his current role, overseeing all real estate acquisitions, development, and day to day operations for Storland Self-Storage and his family's commercial real-estate portfolio. Miller holds a B.S. from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, in City and Regional Planning with a minor in Real Property Development.

“The CSSA is fortunate to have such a great board of directors,” said Erin King, executive director of the CSSA. “We are thrilled to have Mike and Josh joining an already stellar group of individuals. We look forward to their contribution on the CSSA Board of Directors.”
